In His Words

Kenny Duke | Bellevue East Scholarship Recipient

The Bellevue Public Schools Foundation scholarship will allow me to attend Kansas University and study Aerospace Engineering. Being able to achieve this goal would allow me to graduate from Kansas University with a Doctorate in Aerospace Engineering.  I then hope to be able to put my knowledge and degree toward a career at NASA. I want to continue my education in order to better myself and learn as much as I can in a field with an abundance amount of uncertainty. Lastly, I want to continue my education and be the first person in my family to have a doctorate.

During the 2020 pandemic, I had purchased my very first robot to help me learn to program and code. In doing so I didn’t know where it would take me. In the process of purchasing the robot, I got to meet the CEO of Stembot’s company. When I got to the programming stage I was having issues uploading my programs. So I contacted the CEO of the company which led me to a team of software engineers. We all video called and tried to fix the problem. At the end of all of this, they taught me how to build programming software and he taught me how to Debug and fix my robot. The best part was that it worked. In the end, I learned that programming robots is my true passion and to never give up.

I would like to thank my Mother and Stepfather, Tyson and Stuart Robards. All my life they pushed me to give my all in everything. They have been there my entire life and I know they will continue to be there for me in this next step of my life.
